Obama in Brooklyn...Right Now!

Barack Obama has popped up in the form of street art in Brooklyn, and AAVR Magazine points out the Grattan Street mural near the Morgan L stop. That's part of his More Perfect Union speech in the background, and yes, it looks a little bit more like Fred Armisen's Fauxbama than the real thing.

Less detailed Obama murals can be found on Carlton Avenue at Dean Street in Prospect Heights (photos here and here). How long before Clinton demands Obama apologize for promoting vandalism of public property?

this is great

It does look more like SNL's Armisted Fauxbama.

When I see murals, I usually see:

Jesus
Lenin
Fidel Castro
Che Guevarra
Mao Tse Tung
Kim Jong-il
Saddam Hussein
Keith Haring characters

Yay, Obama!

And, yay, more entitlements to keep the lower class poor, and put the middle class into the lower class!

OMGZ, he's such a rock star, though!

Looks like a brown Alfred E. Neuman

The rendering is off a bit. Obama's face is long, not round.

Nice deceptive headline. Don't expect to see either Democratic candidate back in New York before November unless it is for fundraising.

what me worry?

His lips are not that big....nor his skin that dark...and what's with his head being cut off? Someone needs to go back to art school.

Exactly, great to see graf writers embracing Obama. Most of the time you do see murals of Che, Jesus, Lenin, or Mao. To see Obama join the ranks doesn't mean he's similar to the others, but that he's made an impression on the community which few American Politicians have...

"PERFCTION BEGINS..."

Perfection begins with proofreading your street art.

TimSPC, I was thinking exactly the same thing! You beat me to it.

Oh please. It's beautiful and obviously took a lot of effort. Chill on the criticism.

Nice!

chill haters-- my boy did an amazing job-- everyone with the negative comments probably couldn't even do half of what was done. stop being such assholes.

I am the artist that painted the wall. It's far from perfect (I even mispelled the word "perfect" in my exhaustion and carelessness...)
but I just want to thank The Gothamist and Juxtapoz for showing so much love for this piece that I worked so hard on.

Thank you to the critics who fuel my fire, and for the supporters who rebuild my self confidence to create.

The mural is not about me; it's about the first real dialogue on race in America since the 1960's, well before I was born.

I hope that the dialogue continues.

Peace & Respect,

Juse One
