School of Hard Knocks for Brooklyn Kid in Detention
A Brooklyn family has filed a claim of notice that they plan to sue the City, after 14-year-old Matthew Alba (pictured) received a broken wrist and a cut chin allegedly at the hands of a dean at PS 369 in Downtown Brooklyn. In a one-sided account, Matthew Alba told the NY Post that he had arrived at detention when an assistant dean "went ballistic" on him and grabbed his hand, holding it tightly for three minutes as he berated the young teenager.
"He said, 'You ain't gonna be nothing. You ain't gonna go nowhere. You're gonna be here your whole life.' "What followed was a wrestling hold that put young Matthew on the floor; it was later discovered that his wrist had been broken. The principal of the school is Rudy Giuliani--cousin of the former mayor and cast-off Presidential candidate. Is it 'Giuliani Time' in one of New York's public schools? The Alba's lawyer thinks so, saying, "This is another barbaric act, in a school that has a history of these kinds of incidents." The family is suing NYC for $5 million. When Matthew threw the insult back at the dean, the man allegedly told him, "I'm gonna floor you."

*sarcasm on*
Oh no I don't believe it, he looks like such an angel in his picture!
*sarcasm off*
Classy.
This is going to get thrown out of court so fast, it's going to make his gold-digging parents' heads spin.
looks like they didn't knock the stupid out of him yet.
what's wrong with discipline? pretty sure that punk isn't getting any from home. the dean should be compensated for trying educate the lil' bastard. he probably should get a medal for not getting shot as well.
f*cking goldbricking scum.
probably much harder to spraypaint with a broken wrist.
if i was a principle and had to deal with miserable little shits all day, i would probably loose it and beat them too. don't blame this guy at all.... hence, why i do not work with children.
oh, and again.. 5 million? your stupid kid is not worth 5 million. idiots.
So wait.
Rudy Giuliani's cousin is....
Rudy Giuliani??
Thats a little weird.
Wow. I'm surprised that all the commenter's are on the side of the dean. School officials are allowed to (and should) discipline, but they're not allowed to physically and emotional abuse children.
If it were up to me, the dean would face some jail time.
I agree that the 5 million dollar request is crazy.
ha. $5 million. Like it's going to snow in the middle of July in New York City.
Get real and be a parent for once. Some of these kids are brats.
I'm sure the kid just showed up for detention and sat quietly like he's supposed to, right?
I feel bad for NYC public school teachers -- messed up undisciplined people have (way too many) kids, mess those kids up, and then it's up to the teachers and school administrators to clean up that train wreck...meanwhile strong motivated students get pushed aside and neglected at schools because so much effort is put into keeping the shitheads students from going ballistic.
Isn't it bad enough that Rudy was married to his 2nd cousin? Now we hear that he's got a cousin name Rudy. This is a very "tight knit" family. I'm having very weird thoughts.
they should pay the tax payers 5 million for wasting money on this kid.
Is Rudy Giuliani a Junior? Is the the son of Rudy 9/11 Giuliani and his cousin?
I have never seen anyone that I wanted to smack at first glimpse. It's funny how you can actually see dumb in a picture.
Mill,
You just made my day. :)
VanessaNYC so naive. you're just the type they want on the jury. people who think that all children are innocent little angels. in other words: people who have never dealt with nyc school kids.
"I have never seen anyone that I wanted to smack at first glimpse. It's funny how you can actually see dumb in a picture."
Funny how he looks an awful lot like that brat who had to be handcuffed. Nasty, mean children raised by nasty, mean parents.
I'll agree that 5 Mil is a lot, but the teacher BROKE HIS EFFING WRIST!!!
I don't care if he was acting like a little shit, teachers should be able to control themselves enough to NOT break student's bones.
As someone who has suffered a broken wrist, I know that its possible that his wrist will never heal properly and that certain movements will always cause some degree of pain. Something to think about.
zodak,
It doesn't matter how the student was behaving, the dean is the adult, the authority figure. Even if the kid raped the dean's mother, that doesn't give him the right to verbally abuse the kid and break his wrist.
