Last Night's Action: Not Quite Enough

  • Flyers 4 Rangers 3 (Shootout): Do you judge success by the final score or the effort it took to get there? Clearly, the final score is a disappointment, but when you consider the Rangers were trailing 2-0 with less than 10 minutes left, getting a point is somewhat of a victory. New York got back into the game with goals from Marek Malik and Nigel Dawes, but fell behind 3-2 when Daniel Briere scored at 16:23 of the third. The Rangers tied things up again with under two minutes left thanks to Jaromir Jagr’s first goal in years. Unfortunately, the Rangers couldn’t do anything in the shootout and the Flyers escaped with two points.
  • Islanders 3 Devils 1: These two teams showed a lot of hatred towards each other, but the end result looked similar with an Islanders’ victory. New York got two goals late in the third to get another win over New Jersey.
  • Memphis 120 Knicks 106: Why exactly was Zach Randolph unable to play tonight? It couldn’t be because the Knicks are hoping to get a better lottery position could it? Isiah wouldn’t do something like that, would he?
  • Nuggets 125 Nets 114: Neither team played defense and the Nets out rebounded Denver, but they committed 18 turnovers which made the difference.
