Spittzer should be investigated to the fullest extent, as should every politician. Unfortunately the FBI is a political organization. Perhaps it would behoove us Americans to appoint a committee to vet "as the Clintons so eloquently pronounced" a candidate. But I'm sure there is no one running, has run for office or supports someone running for office that who back that. Truth is, the people what to elect a saviour on every election. Whether that saviour changes the status quo or perpetuates the current circumstances does not matter. People want to be rescued from the mess they've made and don't want to take the responsibility for it. We'll never advance in society if we think our leaders are gods. One of the reasons any political theorist will tell you why democracy delivers false hopes.

It's impossible to feel sorry for this guy considering that he used the same tactics against those he targeted as Attorney General.
