Last Night's Action: Back on Track

  • Rangers 5, Penguins 2: Sean Avery seems to have a fan club. He scored two goals to earn himself a "Re-sign Avery" chant as the Rangers bounced back from consecutive losses in Florida to down the Sidney Crosby-less Penguins. Now, you may say, isn't beating the Crosby-less Penguins like beating the Jordan-less Bulls? That's almost true. Besides, no one will care when if those two points help the Rangers to a better seed and home-ice advantage in the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Fredrik Sjostrom, Ryan Callahan and Martin Straka also scored.

  • Maple Leafs 3, Islanders 1: The good news: The Islanders scored a 178-foot goal. The bad news: that's the only way they can score. Rob Davison's "strike" is the only goal in the last two games for the floundering Islanders.

  • Bulls 112, Nets 96: The Nets did a great Knicks impression in this one. Fall behind big early. Then make a token run but still lose handily in the fourth quarter. The worst news? Devin Harris sprained his ankle. X-rays were negative, but he'll be evaluated Wednesday.
