Gay NYC Couple Used for Anti-Gay Polish Propaganda

031908brendanfay.jpgIn a televised address Monday night, Polish President Lech Kaczynski showed a clip depicting a gay couple (pictured) from Queens getting married in Toronto five years ago. Kaczynski’s anti-gay speech was meant to warn Polish conservatives about what lies ahead if Poland ratifies the European Union’s Charter of Fundamental Rights. Here's TV news coverage of the gay marriage storm gathering at Poland's borders.

The two men in the video, Brian Fay, a documentary producer, and Dr. Thomas Moulton, an oncologist, had no idea their wedding footage and a photo of their wedding certificate were used in the speech until reporters started calling Tuesday morning for comments. Both men are outspoken gay rights advocates; Fay is on the committee for the annual gay-friendly “All Inclusive St. Patrick's Day Parade” in Queens.

Today Poland’s consul general in New York, Krzysztof W. Kasprzyk, agreed to meet with Fay (next week) and seemed apologetic in an e-mail, thanking Fay for his “conciliatory approach and the empathy [he has] demonstrated from the first moment this pitiful incident surfaced.” A Polish newspaper editor, explained to the Times that Poland's pro-Western Prime Minister is at odds with the conservative Kaczynski, whose homophobic speech was an attempt to mobilize his “rural, Catholic, conservative base in eastern Poland.”

Wow, I HOPE Poland doesn't join the European Union. That would be almost as bad as if Texas joined the United States! Oh. Wait.

I hope Brian Fay of Queens assured Lech Kaczynski of Poland that same-sex marriages aren't recognized by our federal government and that married partners can still be deported by our immigration and naturalization service and not allowed re-entry into the country if they have the wrong HIV status. Be scared of Europe, Lech but rest assured that the US government has got your back in the war to protect the sanctity of marriage.

"I hope Brian Fay of Queens assured Lech Kaczynski of Poland that same-sex marriages aren't recognized by our federal government..."

No doubt Kaczynski already knows that; that'd explain why he chose to talk about a wedding that took place in Canada and not in the U.S.

They're just still pissed off about all the Polish jokes. Hey, how do you get a one-armed, homophobic Polock out of a tree? Wave to him!

Yes I too am offended by all these Polish Jokes.

Sooo How do you take census in a Polish village? Roll a quarter down the street, count the legs, divide by two, and subtract one for the Jew who catches it.

Someone's behind a curve - Poland joined EU 4 years ago.

What, no Polish Sausage jokes too?

"Someone's behind a curve - Poland joined EU 4 years ago."

Right. But the issue, as stated in the above article, is whether Poland will vote to ratify the EU's proposed Charter of Fundamental Rights.

Yeah, she edited that. It previously said "if Poland joins the European Union." Hence my comment and niki13's.
