Slain Auxiliary Officer's Book Released Posthumously

200803wolfman.jpgNicholas Pekearo was a 28-year-old auxiliary police officer whose life was ended short after being gunned down in Greenwich Village last year. Almost exactly one year later, it has been announced that Pekearo's debut novel will be in stores soon.

As an author, Pekearo (who worked in many of New York's book stores throughout his life) is described as "prolific." His book, The Wolfman, follows a werewolf detective who flips burgers by day and "investigates vicious crimes that have gone unsolved by the police and targets the perpetrators" by night.

Reportedly Pekearo found out his book would be published just before he was murdered, telling his mom, "I want to hug you! I have good news. I'm going to be published." It was a failed playwright, David Garvin, that took his life because of "a bizarre grudge."

Look for The Wolfman in bookstores this May.

What a bizarre note to go out on.

Sad. Hopefully he'll be the next John Kennedy Toole....
