While call girl "Kristen" is getting a lot of attention, the thoughts and feelings of Governor Spitzer's wife Silda Wall Spitzer are still the object of much curiosity. The Post spoke to a friend of hers who said Wall Spitzer is most upset about Ashley Alexandra Dupre's age (22).
According to the Post, "The fact that Dupre is only four years older than the Spitzers' eldest daughter, Elyssa, is not lost on Silda." Still, the friend says she is Spitzer's "rock," and the couple, who met at Harvard Law School, have been attending meetings with his lawyers. Another fascinating detail: A neighbor at 985 Fifth Avenue says, "Eliot is actually apologizing to any of the people he sees in the building." Another says Wall Spitzer has not been in hiding, rather she's seen "holding her head up high."
The NY Times had reported Wall Spitzer answered her cellphone on Tuesday "with extreme politeness" to a reporter's call and said ,"I really don't have anything to say." But friends who emailed her to offer support were surprised to get responses, which were "generous and loving."
Wall Spitzer has also been questioned and criticized for standing beside her husband during his press conferences, though a Boston University professor explains the stand-by-your-man moment might be "one last spousal duty" in the political marriage. Author Susan Shapiro Barash writes in the Daily News today, "Everyone has an opinion and everybody - except Silda - seems to feel the need to unload. We feel qualified to express our opinions because we have so much access to so much information. We forget we're outsiders who are projecting our experiences onto the predicament of a stranger."

Who knows what she did or didn't know. I feel worst for her and the kids. Sure, they're rich and have resources at hand, but to have to deal with it so publicly sucks.
And every marriage is full of compromise - SWS is getting a lot of flak from some who criticize "opt-out" wives (career women who opt out of the workforce), which I don't think is fair - everyone makes their own decisions for different reasons (my mom was a worked and she was criticized by stay-at-home moms). The problem is that in this marriage, she gave up her career, he couldn't give up his ego.

Nope, I'm still holding that she was most upset that her husband was screwing hookers, not how old those hookers were (or weren't).
I don't see how people can criticize her for how she's behaved thus far. She's a political wife, and she's done what she had to do to show a level of class and decorum for a humiliated husband and father of her children. Hiding out or stomping around and pouting wouldn't do her any good.
In my opinion, a classy move on her part.

I agree with you. I said what I said because it's ridiculous that a wife is pissed about the age of her husband's whore. She's pissed because her man was with another woman. Period.
A few years ago I worked on a TV show that became an overnight sensation. When they started gaining popularity, NBC sent the cast to "media camp" to educate them about dealing with the public and the press.
I wonder if there is something similar for politicians and their spouses? I can imagine if there was, there would be instructions on appearing to be loyal to your wayward spouse in the event of a faux pas.

No pity for her at all. She is as calculating and ambitious as Eliot. She married the guy for his father's money and the status/lifestyle this would provide. Unbelievably she didn't want him to resign, which shows she didn't care about the spotlight of disgrace this would keep her children under but rather was primarily focused on trying to save her lifestyle/status. Guess what Silda -- it is OVER...you are as big a joke as your husband and always will be...these megalomaniacs actually thought this might just go away and they could remain Gov -- this will not go way and they will be tainted for the rest of their lives. I feel absolutely terrible for their children -- it is a true tragedy for them... The only way Silda can regain her dignity and that of her daughters is to dump the guy -- he is a complete fraud Silda...you've known it for a long time and now it is time to end the charade and leave this loser!!!! First off no one heard this come from Silda Spitzer's mouth but from a "close source". Obviously, she is upset that her husband cheated on her in the first place. However, I'm sure it did occur to her that this girl was only four years older than their oldest daughter. He could be "Kristen's" Dad. Quite frankly I find it creepy, and if I was Silda or his daughters I would be disturbed. She is a intelligent, pretty woman who can hopefully find happiness in the near future. I personally don't know how she could stay with him after this whole ordeal. As outsiders though we don't know anything about them and can't judge her decision in the end...it's her life.
well, we (my husband) were in Delaware when this first broke. It was very interesting (for the lack of a better word)......And being proud members of the Elk's Lodge...we were visiting a Delaware lodge....Words cannot describe what we felt......BUT...MY main concern is for the 3 young daughters of Silda.......
