Spizer Videos of the Day: Resignation Bounty!

Governor Spitzer's resignation means more and more fodder for late night talk shows. David Letterman's writing staff has been a roll , what with Tuesday night's "Top Ten Messages Left on Spitzer's Answering Machine" (#7 - "Hi - I'm calling from the NY Post. Would you rather be known as 'Disgraced Governor Perv' or 'Humiliated Whore Fiend'?"), and last night's Top Ten Surprises During Spitzer's Resignation (video above).

Jon Stewart thought about Spitzer's possibilities before leaving office:

Also fun: The Daily Show's John Oliver on Spitzer's promises.

And Stephen Colbert pondered Spitzer's last appearance on his show - the day before he met with "Kristen."

The real question: Will Saturday Night Live tackle Hookergate? And who will play Spitzer?

Letterman can usually be depended upon to deliver insight and humor in cases like Spitzergate. In fact, Monday evening's show features some pretty good jabs on the subject. But last night's Top Ten list seemed limp and impotent, even to Letterman as he delivered it. I bet his writers took one on the chin for their flaccid material, right down to the "Client 4-1/2" gag.

Tainted Gov was hilarious.

I'm beginning to miss the writer's strike. That was such an innocent time.

Is a Stewart/Colbert ticket really too much to ask for?
