Brooklyn Urban Outfitters Loves the Yankees!

2008_03_urbanoutfittersbrooklyn.jpg

Reader Kiran sent us these photos the free tote the new Brooklyn Urban Outfitters was handing out at its store opening today, "I don't even know what to make of it, but I do want to see
what else they come up with." So do we: While not as confounding as its print ad, it's curious that they used the Yankees NY logo, as the Bombers are in the Bronx. (Yes, it's clever to use the Y and N that way, but it's not very Brooklyn!)

Racked went to the opening and found it not very stroller friendly. The Park Slope Parents listserv may be up in arms - to put on baby papooses instead!

Why are we even mentioning Park Slope moms? This store is in Cobble Hill. Cobble Hill moms are way more mellow than PS moms.

hey cucarachita, are you going to keep shopping at UO after discovering that moms are wearing their clothes now?

  • cucarachita

Okay, well, when mothers start wearing Urban Outfitters, you know it's time to find something else to wear.

Goodbye UO! Good luck dressing momsters!

  • Nick S

seriously? this is a big deal? its a fucking promotional item, get over it people.

Once upon a time, Urban Outfitters was doing some really fresh and intelligent stuff, design-wise.

    Once upon a time.

This looks like it was made by that big mamaluke Marty Markowitz.

Separately I happen to love in descending order Biggie, The Brooklyn Bridge,Jackie Robinson, the Big Apple logo, the Daily News and old BMT signs. Yet together, they some how raise my hackles.

  • Hey NICE GASH

    Brooklyn Dodgers people!!!

Jesus fuck learn some NYC history. It's no wonder why native New Yorkers hate carpet-bagging hipsters and yuppies.

  • Toby von Meistersinger

Are they setting themselves up for a lawsuit from MLB?

  • ur doing it rong

Is there a post I could care less about? Urban Outfitters catches on fire might pique tho. Urban outfitters blatantly rips off tshrt designs from small online designers: It's pretty incredible how douchey they are, lookit here http://urbncounterfeiters.blogspot.com/

  • babyhitler

they should use my slogan "Urban outfitters brooklyn: the same overpriced crap but now in brooklyn"

  • Brouhaha

Can you at least buy this pillow there?

  • matty

Urban outfitters had the old 1970's white sox logo printed on shirts in chicago.

Moms are already Americans with Disabilities...

Their disability is the 3-year-old Little Shit that wont shut up on the train!

    linkman;

unfortunately, the red sox 'B' is almost identical to the dodgers' old 'B'. probably would have been a bit more prudent for them to use this dodgers logo, ca. 1912:

    (ignore the disgusting 5950 sticker)

  • Art Stewel

    Heaven help us.

  • LinkMan

I take it back. Art is right. That little white triangle on the left side distinguishes the Brooklyn Dodgers B from the Boston Red Sox B.

  • LinkMan

Um, hello? Not only did they use the Yankees logo for the N, they used the Boston Red Sox logo for the B.

  • Art Stewel

Unbelievable you don't know this, but learn something new every day. On the left image the 'B' in Brooklyn is the emblem of the old Brooklyn Dodgers. It is a classic. There is nothing more Brooklyn than that 'B'.

And if you look at the image on the right you will see Jackie Robinson on the lower left of the tote wearing the Brooklyn Dodgers baseball cap with its emblematic Brooklyn 'B'.
