Spitzerpimp in the Post!

2008_3_spitzerpost.jpg

Gothamist's Spitzerpimp image made it on to page 4 of the New York Post today. That is both awesome and puzzling at the same time. Here's a bit from the article:

At Credit Suisse and Merrill Lynch, which also had been on Spitzer's hit list, doctored pictures of the governor decorated their trading floors.

They showed Spitzer as a rapper with his arm around a sexy, bikini-clad girl.

Bloggers also had a field day.

"The corpse of Eliot Spitzer's political career is pushing up daisies and traders stopped to smell the flowers," said John Carney, editor of the blog Dealbreaker.com.

Sadly, they didn't provide a credit for this masterpiece. To our friends at Post HQ: please correct! As full recompense, we would be willing to accept a framed copy of the article signed by Rupert Murdoch.

You should note that there was a comment in the original photoshop post that Gothamist has fallen to the Post's level. how meta!

so you're excited that the post published your 'picture?'

yeah. cool. really aiming high over at gothamist these days.

Yeah - I'm shocked that the Post hasn't created its own Photoshop of Spitzer yet!

This is hilarious. Makes for fun reading.

@thedroog-- are you kidding me? this is the proudest moment of my photoshop life. this is getting framed and replacing my prized signed southpark print ("don't encourage them, they'll only do it more") on the wall next to my desk.

It takes a plagiarist to know a plagiarist.

question: why did you ever make a spitzerpimp in the first place? he was a john not a pimp.

also, i wouldn't be too proud of that photoshop effort...

you guys can insult jake's work when your own has been published in the post. until then don't hate, congratulate!

You see, petebfd, a pimp's love is very different from that of a square...

Awesome! I wish my hometown neswpaper would publish things like that!
Nice work, guys...

Jake's 15 minutes of fame. Kind of pathetic, really.

this is a really dumb thread. the photoshop is dumb, the post "reporting" on it is dumb, gothamist re-reporting it is dumb, and all of us commenting on it is also dumb. dumb dumb dumb dumb dummmmmbbbbb!!!!

chill pete let the man have his moment in the sun. Congrats and I really hope you do get a signed copy....

Your all just jealous. Wash the sand out of your collective vaginas and congratulate Jake for his awesome photoshopping skillz.

Why do Wall Streeters hate Spitzer? Because he caught them doing something illegal? Does his resignation mean they'll be able to get away with murder now? That really sounds like something to celebrate.

The Post has sunk down to Gothamist's level.

Way to go, Jake!

When the story first broke I sent that image to several people by email. Not for credit, but 'cause it was funny.

I guess since Jake didn't toss an explosive at a military recruiting center (in Times Square, no less), petebfd's mad mad mad.

Ha, ha, ha. Aren't political assassinations funny wunny!

The Post has sunk down to Gothamist's level.

Was the article full of typos and weird grammar?

You guys obviously lack subtlety and humor. Let me be really direct. I'm talking to you, Peter.

Humor my pedantry. There is no iconography for the john, the trick. (You may want to write a whole Master's dissertation on this. I'll be your counselor.)

So what's a photo-mucker to do? Role transference, of course. The john as pimp. And why not? In the scheme of things it's all about who is using whom. One gives the money, the other takes. Both are users and abusers of the whore.

Oh, yeah. And it makes for a fucking funny photo.

from one tabloid to another

but it isn't funny, or subtle. its a blatantly obvious choice and poorly done at that. i don't mean to harp on jake, but it just isn't that clever of a photoshop.

here is a much funnier, much subtler photoshop to illustrate my point:

http://thevillagemovedmagazine.blogspot.com/2007/10/new-adventures-of-berenstain-bears.html

albeit not spitzer related. before anyone attacks me for being off topic...
