MUSIC: Jose Gonzalez (pictured) is playing two shows at the Highline Ballroom tonight. He won over music fan's hearts with his rendition of The Knife song "Heartbeats" (watch the amazing Bravia commercial it was featured in here), and he continues to enchant audiences with his own tunes.
6 p.m. and 10 p.m. // Highline Ballroom [431 West 16th St] // $25.50
BIKE RACE: To raise funds for the 1st annual Tour de Queens Bike Ride, the organizers are having a bike race...in a bar. The Long Island City Bike Roller Race Throwdown will include drink specials and a bike race that you can join in on, or watch from your barstool. An auction "eco-related Queens auction items" will also be held.
7 p.m. // The Creek and Cave [10-93 Jackson Ave, LIC] // $20
THEATER: Remember how in January we raved about the current Broadway revival of Harold Pinter’s The Homecoming? You know, the one starring the riveting Raúl Esparza, the mesmerizing Eve Best, the hilarious Michael McKean (who we interviewed) and Ian McShane, among others? It seems like it opened ages ago, but the show is still running for a few more weeks. So quit stalling and trust us; it’s absolutely worth braving the Times Square herds for this – and that’s no small compliment. – John Del Signore
EVENT: NonsenseNYC gives the heads up for a book club inspired by Brett Easton Ellis's Less Than Zero. They say, "the premise is simple: It's a variety show centered around a book, or set of books. And then each act touches on that book in some way. The wild card of the show is that the organizers open up bookings to people they find on Craigslist, which, at our show, produced a topless harpist who told a sad story about breaking up with her orthodox boyfriend." Sounds...awkward.
8 p.m. // Parkside Lounge [317 E Houston] // $7
