Mystery Homicide in the Bronx
Police and firefighters are investigating the cause of death of a man who died late yesterday evening in the Bronx. The two standout theories are that he died because he was on fire or because he may have been shot. The still-unidentified man stumbled in the first floor hallway of the Eastchester Houses on Adee Ave. in the Bronx around 11:30 p.m. Saturday night; he was on fire and collapsed. Responding firefighters declared him dead at the scene. The fire in the man's apartment took about an hour to extinguish.
The Associated Press is reporting that it's unclear how the man died and it is possible that he may have also been shot. The New York Post, who spoke with investigating detectives, say that the man "apparently" was shot and police and the fire department are investigating the man's death and the cause of the apartment fire. When told that one of her neighbors at the Eastchester Houses may have been shot and burned before dying in the building's hallway, one woman told the Post, "That's creepy."
