Seinfeld Sequel Coming Soon?

200803seinfeld.jpg.jpgAfter audiences shoo-ed off Bee Movie, Jerry Seinfeld is looking to create some buzz on the small screen again. The NY Post is reporting that "the comedian will be playing himself in an exaggerated reality, in a show set in New York." Reportedly it will be a rip off of Curb Your Enthusiasm, Larry David's HBO series (David co-created Seinfeld).

The series is said to be aiming for a June premiere, but what's in store? With Seinfeld ending a decade ago, the comedian (now in his mid-50s) will have to change what he's yada yada-ing about. He'll also be coming back to a post-9/11, and post-Giuliani, New York.

Will the new episodes focus on mysterious maple syrup smells? An overabundance of rats in restaurants? A plagiarized cookbook scandal? Will the germiphobe ban all bars and restaurants after a hepatitis scare? One thing's for sure, he'll likely ditch his portable phone for a cell and an email account.

The show will be on NBC, so perhaps some 30 Rock crossovers are in order.

UPDATE: Curb your enthusiasm Seinfeld fans, apparently this isn't happening (at least not yet). NBC spokeswoman Rebecca Marks says, ''There's nothing to it" (though they would probably like there to be!). And Seinfeld's spokeswoman, Elizabeth Clark Zoia, also says the rumors are untrue, but, ''We appreciate the enthusiasm.''

    Too soon?

I never got the Seinfeld show. It was not really about New York. They need to have a good show about the real New York like Bay Ridge or Bensonhurst.

This dude is a douche! have you seen how cocky he was on Lary King ? Once you know that a person is awful it's hard to appreciate whatever he does.

  • Dude69

I liked Seinfeld simply because they never had to do a "special" episode, like "Blossom" or "Different Strokes"

Jerry Seinfeld is probably the least funny comedian in existence. Actually, all comedians suck. They try too hard.

Ended 10 years ago? Dang. That's like Seinfeld is to a college student as Welcome Back Kotter is to me. Anyway, it's funny how I get more of the jokes now that I live in NY. 1st and 1st?

NEW YORK — Sorry, "Seinfeld" fans.

NBC and Jerry Seinfeld shot down a New York Post report Friday that the comic was in talks with the network about a new sitcom. The report, citing no sources, said Seinfeld would play himself in a New York series similar to "Curb Your Enthusiasm."

"There's nothing to it," said NBC spokeswoman Rebecca Marks.

Seinfeld's spokeswoman, Elizabeth Clark Zoia, also said the story was completely false.

"We appreciate the enthusiasm, however," she said.

    Jerry, pay attention:

"The Micheal Richards Show" - 7 episodes

    "Bob Patterson" - 1 episode

    "Watching Ellie" - 12 episodes

Don't be fooled by "The New Adventures of Old Christine." Stay retired.

oh man, those were funny. seeing lucille ball in a short nightie.

  • ANGRYGOD11

I'm having some bad flashbacks of the lame post-Ricky, color Lucille Ball shows.

  • Politburo

I don't understand. Doesn't he have millions of dollars? Why ruin your reputation? Seinfeld worked because of all four characters. If it was only Jerry, it wouldn't have made it past the pilot.

How about a show about NY based blogger blogging about "nothing"
