Good point, Steven. But the fact is people have been killed on construction sites in rising numbers for the last 3 years. How many more have to die for the reaction to kick in?

This whole country is reactive. It always takes something huge to happen or people need to die before anything happens.

What experience with buildings/architecture/construction does Lancaster have? The DOB has been a total disgrace for the past couple of years through their inaction. Construction accidents are happening every day now and nothing happens to these companies.

I know this was a vacant building, but just another example of the DOB's modus operandi.....they are reactive, not pro-active.

So does Lancaster have any sort of experience that qualifies her to be the DOB Commish?

Or is she just another career bureaucrat (Joel Klein, Scopetta) hired by Bloomberg so he could say his commissioners were "diverse"?
