New York Wine Expo Uncorks This Weekend

030508wineexpo.jpgOenophiles envious of the big wine expos held in Boston and D.C. can stop whining; this weekend marks the first annual New York Wine Expo at the Javits Center. Friday night and Saturday are open to the public, where more than 600 wines from over 170 vintners will be available for tasting. Here’s the list of all the wineries and vineyards at the Expo.

And after sampling hundreds of different wines, what better way to top off the evening than with a seminar, right? The Expo's got you covered with hot seminar action like Cotes du Rhone - The Origin of Syrah and Outsmarting Wine 101 with Mark Oldman, wine columnist for Every Day With Rachael Ray. Oldman will be arriving via time machine from 2005 to “help you decode eight major wine types including those made even more popular in last year’s run away box office hit Sideways.”

Admission includes a souvenir glass that is yours to keep and some unspecified “complimentary food samples.” No on under 21 is permitted and all sweaters must be removed upon entry and casually tied around the neck. Advance tickets cost $75 for Friday night and $85 for Saturday.
