Project Runway 4: Finale Time

2008_03_jill1.jpg 2008_03_christian1.jpg 2008_03_rami1.jpg

Even though there wasn't a "villain" along the lines of Santino Rice or a favorite like Michael Knight, the fourth season of Project Runway has been pretty captivating with some very lovely work. Tonight, the three remaining designers' Bryant Park Fashion Week face-off will be shown and a winner announced.

Designers Christian Siriano, Jillian Lewis, and Rami Kashou have had some high and low points this season (the denim challenge kinda sucked, as did the Tiki Barber one). Our favorite challenges were the couture challenge (great work from Chrstian/Chris and Victorya/Jillian), Sarah Jessica Parker/Bitten challenge, and the "art of fashion" challenge. And the best pieces from the designers might be the ones we've pictured - Jillian's warrior dress and jacket, Christian's couture dress (with assist from Chris), and Rami's Hershey's dress.

Project Rungay has some great analysis of Jillian, Christian and Rami. And LAist updates us on some of the LA designers. You can see the "art of fashion" challenge at 8 p.m. and last week's episode at 9 p.m., before the 10 p.m. finale, which feature Victoria Beckham aka Posh Spice as guest judge - all on Bravo. And you can bid on the finale collections here.

sweet p will not be liveblogging the finale...read the links you post.

Just watched Project Runway's finale, and I am disgusted and disappointed that a designer who showed all black Halloween costumes was selected as the winner.Christian's weird hats and repetitive styles were grotesque.

I favored Rami, whose impeccable workmanship and style were beautiful and wearable. The negative comment on his choice of colors is baffling, because he was the only one of the 3 finalists to offer several colors. The blue that Michael Kors criticized was exceptionally beautiful, so perhaps it is time for a change in current fashion.

Victoria Beckham's penchant for Gothic styling does not reflect a line which many women would buy or wear, as one of the judges mentioned. I would have preferred another designer (is she a designer!!!) for the finale. Was she selected for her name?

I enjoy watching this program because it stresses challenge, hard work, and people working together, as well as individually, but I wonder whether promoting such extreme and unattractive clothing is the way to go.

Rami's emphasis on clothing designed for women is important. Eccentric costumes which may photograph dramatically are often not worn, except perhaps once. That the judges mentioned Rami's workmanship over and over again seemed to be dismissed in the long run. Too bad; he merits our respect, for he is not a dabbler or a self-absorbed narcissist. Women would wear his clothes; can one say that about the winner's?

this season was so weak compared to last.

christian is probably the most talented, but didn't deserve to win this final challenge. jillian's designs were amazing, just no cohesive enough, and rami's were intricate, and challenging, all the while very wearable.

christian could've dressed these girls in in richard simmons shorts and cut-off flannels and we would've won.

project runway is a tv show, so it isn't always about the design. christian was fierce, he's totally the winner everyone wants.

Team Christian! The two-toned dress was fantastic. Jillian's work was pretty but not as exciting, and she's pretty annoying. And it seems like Rami has a good business going in LA, while Christian lives in a closet. ;)

Posh has a jeanswear line. And she probably has access to more couture clothing than your average designer.

But then, I loved Chris's human hair clothes. Major! :)
