Momufu-king Hard Reservation to Get

It's the law of supply and demand -- if something is hard to get, everyone wants it. This especially applies to Momofuku Ko, the latest spot from chef-superstar David Chang. There's no secret handshake or phone number needed to get in (in fact, there's no phone), just an internet connection. Reservations for the 14-seat restaurant will only be made available online, first come first served...and everyone wants to get in desperately.

Momofuku fans were treated to some major food porn last night as pictures surfaced from the restaurant's friends and family night. Then today, to further flame the desire, Gourmet's Ruth Reichl gives a mouthwatering play by play of her dinner, and even she begs to snag another reservation before she leaves. But Chang wouldn't budge an inch on the policy: “Only online. I mean it.”

Momofuku Ko, 163 First Avenue (no phone). Opens to the public March 12th.

No phone, right. Here is there freaking phone number: (212) 475-7899.

And what happened when you called?

negatory. that looks like the phone number for momofuku NOODLE BAR when it was at the old location.

The had a recording with Momofuku Ko as one of the menu options. The reverse directory gives 163 First Avenue as location for the phone number. Why didn't you guys try to find the number? It is out there.
It is a local call, so just call (212) 475-7899.

The momofuku mania is so annoying

Just called that number, it is the umbrella number for all 3 restaurants. When you choose option 3 for momofuku ko, all there is is a recording saying it isnt open yet. When they do open, my guess is that the recording will direct you to the online reservation system.

Sheesh ... the guy opens up the worst of 4 ramen noodle shops in the area and gets lauded as a genius. There's a bit of the emperor's new clothes quality about this. May your next meal be prepared by a cook and not a chef-superstar.

Although I respect Ruth Reichl, I think I'll skip this one. I hate trying to get into places I can't get into.

I don't see what all the stink about the reservation system is for. It is certainly more democratic than restaurants like Waverly Inn etc. Maybe I just prefer this method since I'm not typically a person who gets the 'secret phone number.'

is it possible to write a script to hit their ressy system right when free slots open up?

the pictures look really good...
