  • Today on the Gothamist Newsmap: A construction accident at 32 Sixth Avenue in Manhattan, shots fired over the air at Meeker Ave & Frost St in Brooklyn, and an evidence search at 50-30 Broadway and 50 St in Queens
  • Brooklyn Heights Blog has a great picture of the front entrance The Moxie Spot, a still-to-be-opened establishment on Atlantic Ave. The door comes in three sizes: adult, child, and pet.
  • Something that can sustain one through the bleak months of winter are thoughts of hot summer days at the beach. This year will feature increased ferry service to Water Taxi Beach in Long Island City.
  • A Craigslist-advertising masseuse says she was raped and robbed at her 23rd St. apartment in Manhattan Saturday evening. Cops are searching for a man caught on her building's surveillance camera.
  • The "Survivors' Stairway--the only remaining recognizable part of the pre-9/11 attack World Trade Center--will be removed soon to a storage area until its installation at a WTC Memorial.
  • Back to the drawing board: The Landmarks Preservation Commission thinks the current proposed addition to the Domino Sugar Factory is too tall.
  • How come Dan Rather wasn't at the 48 Hours anniversary party? Well, because he's suing CBS for $70 million, it would have been awkward so he was told not to come.

there's another remaining recognizable part of the pre-911 WTC that no one ever mentions... the entrance hallway from the chambers street A into what is now the temporay path station is exactly as it was... the flooring; the thresholds; the doors... personally, I find it eerie - that hallway was part of my commute.

Just a couple things about that "masseuse" article -- Does anyone feel like they're casting aspersions on her by calling her "A Manhattan woman who advertises her services as a masseuse on the Web site Craigslist"?

I feel like they're trying to wink, wink, nudge, nudge call her a prostitute.

But as a former massage therapist I might just be really sensitive about this.
