Didn't the Park Slope mommies go apeshit over a porn store a few years ago or was that a different gentrified Brooklyn neighborhood I'm thinking of? I guess it's all in the packaging. I'm embarrassed to say on my first week on 5th Ave. in the Slope I wandered into Ginger's in the middle of the afternoon while the place was deserted. While I was enjoying a beer and what could be my cool new cozy-looking neighborhood bar, the bartender came over and said, "You know, the boys generally like to get together at a place up the street." Two minutes after I responded "That's ok, I actually can't stand sports bars," I slapped my forehead and said "Oh! I get it!" Thanks to that bartender for being remarkably understanding to an idiot new to the neighborhood.
