Gay Porn Costs Bronx Catholic School Principal His Job
The principal of a renowned Catholic boys’ high school in the Bronx resigned recently after pornographic images were found on his office computer. Christopher Keogan, the principal of
Cardinal Hayes High School, says the allegations are “absolutely, positively 100% false." Officials have confirmed that Keogan’s hard drive was storing pictures of nude men and that since there were no minors depicted, Keogan does not face any criminal charges, though of course his career is destroyed.
Cardinal Hayes opened in 1941 in the South Bronx and is famous for offering disadvantaged boys from poor communities a rigorous educational environment that results in 96% of alumni attending college. Martin Scorsese, Regis Philbin and novelist Don DeLillo are among its graduates; George Carlin was expelled after three semesters.
Four years ago Keogan stepped away from the Christian Brothers teaching order, which demands poverty and chastity, for "personal reasons." Later, a staffer claimed she was fired after reporting that Keogan was having an affair with a male subordinate. And the school treasurer accused Keogan of stealing $600 out of a desk in the school finance office, a heist allegedly captured by a security camera .
Now the Post, which is naturally reveling in the scandal, is reporting that Keogan used $10,000 from a chartable foundation he managed to furnish his new off-campus apartment in 2004. The Rev. Bob Hoatson, a frequent critic of Keogan, told the Post it was “absurd they would give the man $10,000 when they're taking it from kids who need it most. They could have given two kids scholarships to Cardinal Hayes with that money.” Indeed, the school’s heavily subsidized tuition is $4,900 a year.

While the porn on the office computer is part of the problem, I wouldn't doubt it for a second that this Catholic Church wanted him gone simply because he's gay - it's not the first time this has happened and won't be the last.
Wrongful termination...pfff.

Why do people use office computers to download porn, send racist/sexist jokes, etc.? I know two intelligent (ostensibly), highly successful individuals who were fired because they "created an abusive work environment" in "zero-tolerance" corporations by forwarding jokes and other "humorous" emails to co-workers using computers at work and corporate email accounts. Neither had a chance, although one is pursuing a wrongful termination claim based upon "age discrimination." Thusfar, the only winner in his case is his lawyer, who has billed hundreds of hours.
There is little doubt that the Archdiocese of New York wanted to see this man out of his job. He just gave them an excuse to do so.
Seriously! To be a teacher/school admin. official and to store porn on the office computer? Come on. And to be working at a Catholic school? I bet the Archdiocese is checking everyone's hard drives at night.
with wifi hotspots almost everywhere, why would anyone use their home or work computer to do this type of stuff?

this just goes to show the hypocrisy of the church. Hello? they don't condone homosexuality but guess what? Jesus was a flaming fag! the dude had that soft spoken lisp, he didn't want to bang hot chicks like mary magdelene, and he told all men to love one another, not to mention he bathed all the men at the last supper. christianity disgusts me.
