Brooklyn Bank Robber Regrets, Returns Money

If only all crimes were this easy to solve. Last Friday, a woman robbed a North Fork Bank at 71st Street and New Utrecht Avenue in Dyker Heights. Now the police say she returned to the scene of the crime and returned the money yesterday.

WNBC reports that apparently 48-year-old Catherine Kaczazanowski, who initially robbed the branch by passing a note to the teller, had a change of heart. Kaczazanowski gave most of the money ($700 of the $1000) back with a note ("I stole this money from your bank on Friday, February 22. I'm sorry."), bought some whiskey, and then went home, where police arrested her "without incident" and charged her with first-degree robbery.

Of course, this kind of bank robbery seems tame compared to the Philadelphia-New Jersey robbery spree orchestrated by twin brothers who have appeared in gay hardcore porn together. Keyontyli and Taleon Goffney would cut holes in the roofs of businesses they wanted to rob and lower themselves in.

It did say North 71 Street earlier. The outstanding editorial staff at the Gothamist decided to proofread and correct their entry. In the big picture, it's not a big deal.

I accidentally added "North" to 71st Street because I had been writing a lot of stuff with North in it (North Fork, Northern Boulevard). Thanks for letting me know so I could fix it.

LOL- North 71 Street? You would think that a blog about New York City would know that there is no North 71 St. Maybe it's just a typo or maybe this blog mirrors NYC: it's filled with outsiders.
