Sunny Monday, Rainy Tuesday

wxch_sfc_022508.jpgThe late-winter weather rollercoaster continues on its up and down journey this week. After a cool weekend today will be the most pleasant day of the week. A weak high pressure system sliding out to sea will keep the skies mostly sunny. Highs today will be in the mid-40s.

The temperature won't change much tomorrow, but the city is in for a wet day. A storm currently over Oklahoma is expected to move up through the Ohio Valley today and brush New York tomorrow. That path is usually synonymous with rain for our area. The precipitation may start off as snow early tomorrow, but nothing should stick before the snow changes over to rain. One caveat: The rain/snow line is a hundred miles away, which is not all that far given the uncertainties inherent in weather prediction.

The winds will pick up as the storm moves out of the region tomorrow night. Expect a breezy night and a windy Wednesday. Wednesday will be about ten degrees cooler as arctic air filters in behind the storm. The cooling should bottom out on Thursday, when the high will only reach the freezing mark. Next weekend is not looking much warmer.
