Pencil This In
ART: This past Friday The NY Times dubbed the new MoMA exhibit Design and the Elastic Mind "exhilarating". Now opened, as of yesterday, we highly recommend stepping inside and delving into the world of flying cars, future software and 200 examples of "successful translation of disruptive innovation, examples based on ongoing research, as well as reflections on the future responsibilities of design." You can also check it all out online.
10:30am to 5:30pm // MoMA [11 W 53rd St]
FILM: Spend the evening with Sharon Hayes as she talks Politics and Desire tonight. It's another Modern Monday at MoMA and Hayes's latest project takes a closer look at history, politics and speech through everything from Presidential speeches to tapes made by Patty Hearst. She'll be on hand for a discussion as well as to present her work "which focuses on the conditions of public speech and public opinion, and on the complicated relationship between politics and desire."
7pm // MoMA, Titus Theatre 2 [11 W 53rd St] // $10
THEATER: Emerging Artists Theatre [EAT] is celebrating their 15th anniversary season with month-long "Triple Threat" series of three plays. Tonight’s offering is David Bell’s The Play About the Naked Guy, which concerns three “artistically questionable, though financially successful impresarios responsible for such stage hits as Naked Boys Running Around Naked and Drunk Frat Boys Making Porn.” When they decide to help save the struggling Integrity Players, an Off-Off Broadway theater company dedicated to faithfully presenting the "lesser known" classics, an “epic and hilarious battle between commercialism and artistic allegiance ensues.” – John Del Signore
