Too Many "Why Did the Chicken Cross the Road" Jokes

Earlier this morning, a tractor trailer overturned on the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway. The tractor trailer's cargo - an assortment of live chickens - spilled onto the highway and broke open, leaving crews to chase a lot of fowl for hours during clean-up (a worker estimated there were 500!). It's unclear whether all the chickens were retrieved, so if you live near Flushing Avenue and see a feathered friend more suited to a coop than a tree, you'll know why.

And somehow, in spite of the dramatic-looking accident, the driver was not injured. WNBC reports police "could not immediately say about the vehicle overturned."

stupid chickens, just standing there on the side of the road waiting to be picked up.
RUN!!!!! YOU'RE FREE!!!!!!
great, free range chickens.... they look so much happier now.
Jen,
It's "WHY did the chicken cross the road?"
Not "How"
A story to warm my heart ... and soup. I love chickens: love raising them, killing them, eating them. Moreover, I am a 3 degree Chicken Charmer (tm). It's times like these (the sky is falling) that I am needed. If only I wasn't stinking drunk last night while this went down! Another chicken rescue missed.
Next time I'll tell you about my dog and pony show with hynotized chickens. It's philosophical and gruesome. And involves a cleaver.

Were these chickens headed to one of those "live poultry" shops in Queens?
i'm willing to pay an extra buck for free range on the BQE
Freedom! Horrible horrible freedom!!
Maybe the driver had a few too many BAWK-ardi and rum drinks.
A smell Aardman Animation all over this incident.
Shouldn't this read "It's unclear whether all the chickens were PLUCKED from the highway..."
I hope the police look into this. Sounds like a case of fowl play.
Glad I wasn't driving that morning. It's one thing or another on that God forsaken expressway.
