Police Search for Rape Suspect Who Posed as Cop

2008_02_rapesusp.jpgThe police released a sketch of a man suspected of raping a teenage girl in Queens and asked for the public's help in identifying him.

According to police, the suspect saw a 16-year-old girl and her boyfriend who were kissing in a car at 137th Avenue and 155th Street, near Baisley Pond Park, around 12:30AM Saturday. Claiming he was a cop (he flashed a badge), the man told the boyfriend to leave and said he'd take the girl home. After the boyfriend left, the man drove her to a parking lot in Hollis and raped her at knifepoint in his black pickup truck.

The suspect dropped the girl off a few blocks away and drove off in his late-model pickup truck. The victim was treated at Mary Immaculate Hospital. The suspect is described as in his early 30s, around 5'7" and 140 pounds with a Jamaican or Haitian accent.
