Bill Says Voters Must Help Hillary or Else!

2008_02_clinalamo.jpgFormer President Bill Clinton laid out his wife's chances for voters during a speech - and didn't sound terribly confident about them. He told them, "If she wins Texas and Ohio, I think she will be the nominee. If you don't, then I don't think she can. It's all on you." And the Post quickly dug up the Davy Crockett hat for its Photoshop job.

Hillary Clinton spoke at Hunter College yesterday, telling the crowd, “It's time to get real...We need to make a choice between speeches and solutions. The best words in the world aren’t enough unless you match them with action. ... We’re asking to compare our records, we’re asking to compare our years of service, we’re asking to compare our ideas.” Newsweek's Andrew Romano called Clinton's "Let's get real" lines a sign of her "desperate desire" to appeal to people who want to count on "real" over (the audacity of) "hope."

And political journalist Ron Brownstein doesn't think there's a media bias against Clinton, telling an audience at an event for his book, "I think if Obama would have lost 10 elections in a row, there would be a chorus from the media for him to drop out. But you don’t see that with Clinton. They respect her political prowess. They are giving her one more bite at the apple.”

Clinton and Obama are debating tonight at the University of Texas in Austin.

[W]e’re asking to compare our years of service...

"We"? Your husband isn't running for President, Hillary. You are. You've been in the Senate for eight years. That's all well and good, but it doesn't hold a candle to McCain. She's treading a really fine line by trying to associate herself closely with Bill at times while distancing herself at others.

And by the way, your record is one of saying and doing whatever was politically convenient at the time and whatever it takes to get elected. "Where can I move to have an easy Senate campaign? Oh, I know! New York!"

"It's time to get real..."

I agree. Hillary, time to give it up and get back to your job as Senator for New York.

Being the photo editor (ie Photoshop hack) of the NY Post rivals in prestige that of the same position at Gothamist, if such a position were ever to existed.

Can you imagine the poor guy at a bar? "Yeah, I'm the one who put Hillary in a coon's cap."

funny how everybody hates bill clinton now. the best democratic president ever! oh well.

I think Bill truly likes Obama, and would love to stump for the man. Unfortunately, it wouldn't look to good if you picked him over your own wife.

Don't worry Bubba. Your still the best. Fuck term limits. Run for 2012!
