We'd like to thank all the nice businesses and apartment buildings on W. 116th St. that so thoughtfully cleared their sidewalks of slush this morning. It will be easy to thank them because there was only one place that actually shoveled their sidewalk. Come on people, you're a business with 400 square feet of sidewalk, how hard can it be to keep it clean? Snowfall totals across the city ranged from 1.9 inches at the airports to 3.1 inches in Pelham Bay Park. All that snow will be naturally removed by the end of the day today by rain and warmer weather.

Melting snow combined with frozen and saturated ground and the possibility of heavy rain have led the National Weather Service to issue a Flood Watch for the region through tomorrow morning. One to two inches of rain are likely, and locally higher amounts are possible. Today's forecast high is in the low 40s, which is not too accurate given that it is already 51.

The rain should last all day before turning to non-accumulating snow late tonight. Skies are expected to briefly clear tomorrow, but more rain or snow should arrive on Friday afternoon in advance of a cold front. The cold front will get rid of the the moisture, bringing us a sunny, but chilly, highs around 30, Saturday. Yet another storm system, bringing with it more rain, arrives on Sunday.
