Out-of-Control Garbage Truck Kills 2, Injures 1 in Midtown
Last night, a private garbage truck jumped a curbed, hitting and killing two pedestrians on West 35th Street near 6th Avenue in Manhattan. The truck driver suffered a heart attack, losing control of the truck. A police source told the News, "He traveled along the sidewalk taking out lampposts, signs, storefront."
The truck first hit a woman, who the Post reports was "killed instantly." The News reports that a 48-year-old man died at Bellevue Hospital while another man is also at Bellevue, undergoing surgery today.
The driver passed a Breathalyzer test and was treated at the scene. His passenger was not injured, nor were any people who were in the store the truck crashed into.

If he really was only treated at the scene, then I highly doubt that he suffered a heart attack.
I live in the building that the truck hit. From the rumor mill, he was taken away in cuffs. Supposedly he was stoned. Cant confirm that though. The store that the truck hit has been vacant for a year. If course with a gaping hole in my building, there will be heating issues until that is fixed but more importantly, I hope that third person that was hit is ok. We had a camera on the awning in front of my building that the truck took out. I watched the recording last night and 15 secs before that truck hit @ 10:17pm, I saw someone walk in the direction of it. I can only assume that he is one of the victims but judging from what he looked like, I think he was the 23 year old that survived.

please explain your emergency medical care background to the class. you can be treated at the scene for a heart attack and then transported to a hospital... that's the beauty of modern medicine.
If these stories don't yet include the obligatory "no charges were filed," I'm sure they will soon. Fucking ridiculous.
