Explaining why global warming needs to be stopped in an urgent way, Mayor Bloomberg said, "Terrorists kill people. Weapons of mass destruction have the potential to kill an enormous amount of people. [But] global warming in the long term has the potential to kill everybody...This really is just as lethal. It's just the results are something we will face long term."
The Mayor was addressing reporters after speaking at the United Nation's conference on climate change. He mentioned the city's plan to reduce the use of tropical hardwoods because the deforestation accounts for 20% of greenhouse gas emissions. NYC is one of the world's biggest consumers of tropical hardwoods, as they are used in park benches, promenades, docks, etc. Bloomberg also emphasized that the U.S. should have a carbon emission tax.
Last summer, Mayor Bloomberg and mayors from around the world convened to discuss environmental issues at the NYC Climate Summit; Bloomberg said another would be held this June. And for fun, during his speech, he said, "Of course, being the Mayor of New York - the world's most international city - is a bit like presiding over the United Nations every single day of the year."

well, if the mayor is right, and global warming could kill everybody, than it is more lethal than terrorism. but it's still a retarded comparison.
Bloomberg suffers from the same disease that Uncle Ed Koch did in his last year as mayor, he just can't keep it simple. They both somehow feel and felt they need to broaden the platform beyond their normal day in and day operation of a bloated bureaucracy.
Bloomberg has the money. Let him spend it to make the world a better place. How about dropping a few billion to change or solve some of the problems?

Got news for y'all, global warming is much much much much much more dangerous than terrorism. If half the people on the planet were terrorists, it might be a different story. The only common point is that they both make life suck for us -- terrorists make life suck when the government acts to make our lives more difficult... and global warming will make life suck while the government does nothing.
The root cause of the environmental declines we are facing throughout the world is a fulfillment of Bible prophecy. Once one-fourth part of the earth is destroyed (Re.6:7-8) we will move forward to the next Seal events, followed by Trumpet events, followed by Plague events. The earth is on a downhill slid; it will not recover. The first four Trumpet events will destroy an additional one-third part (Re.8:7-12).
