Pet Groomer Accused of Animal Abuse
A 23-year-old animal groomer in Brooklyn is facing charges of animal cruelty and could spend up to a year in jail if convicted. The charges stem from an experience Igor Kisil and his Burmese cat Nusha had with groomer Bechir Bejaoui of Bay Ridge, Brooklyn. Kisil says that when he went to pick up his small cat, who weighs only three pounds, she was returned to him in a carrying case covered with blood. Kisil says that the cat was literally crying, with tears coming from its eyes, and her face was covered with blood. The distressed pet owner called the cops, but when they responded they said it wasn't their jurisdiction to handle such a matter.
Nusha was taken to a vet who said that it was the worst case of animal abuse he'd witnessed in 30 years. Dr. Roy Appel told the Daily News, "I have cats that have fallen out of very high windows that weren't this bad. It was awful, just awful to see the cat suffering like it did." The animal would spend the next two weeks in a veterinary hospital, after suffering internal injuries, trauma, and hemorrhaging. The incident occurred in June and Nusha has physically recovered, although Kisil doesn't think she'll ever be psychologically the same. Bejaoui will go on trial next month and claims that the cat was "bad."
In a separate case of animal neglect, animal rescue workers responding to an anonymous tip arrived at the East Harlem home of Diana Elias, where they recovered a badly neglected dog named Miss Bea. The miniature poodle weighed three pounds but was cocooned in seven pounds of feces-encrusted fur, to the point where the dog couldn't move. Not that it would have been that mobile anyway. Miss Bea's toenails had grown so long that they had curved under her paws to pierce the skin.

Goodness. What on earth is wrong with the world?! Horrid.
I really cannot understand people out there. Whether it's humans or animals, why people treat other living beings with such cruelty is a huge, distressing mystery. I just met a cat whose two back legs were broken by an owner. Who are these people?
Who are these people? They're people who should never be allowed to have children. How someone treats a small animal is a good indication of how they would treat small humans. I'd hazard a guess that Nixzmary Brown's father was never good with animals.
Well, it's all sad and sob stories for cats and dogs--and the occasional donkey. But when will people cry for the carrots? Vegetables have souls too. It's time we talk about betacarotene abuse.
That's abuse with a capital (Vitamin) A.
It's time that MFer sees a vet to see if his problem can be cured. Doubtful it can be, and therefore he/she should be euthanized.
I saw some guy literally whipping his dog with the leash every 10 steps. The dog was constantly cowering in anticipation of another wack. I have no idea what was mentally wrong with that guy.
No! Why, why, why...?
i can't stand cats, but this is TERRIBLE. put that asshole UNDERNEATH the jail!
Yeah, this is a terrible, senseless story. The shop is relatively new in the neighborhood - it may have been open for a matter of months when this incident occurred. Interestingly, the owner of the cat left extensive comments on the DN site which indicate that the guy is still employed there.
That animal "groomer" is employed at Fins Fur & Feathers on 4th Ave. at 93rd St. in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn.
Animal abuse has been identified as a possible precursor to true sociopathic behavior. Many serial killers start out on animals. Regardless, people like that are truly dispassionate and demented.
Death by fire ants to anyone who tortures an animal.
