  • Today on the Gothamist Newsmap: a baby in cardiac arrest on West 96th St. in Manhattan, a shooting on Church and Flatbush Aves. in Brooklyn, and a found grenade on East 196th St. and Bainbridge Ave. in the Bronx.
  • More hand-sifted material has been transported to Fresh Kills, Staten Island. The material does not contain any human remains and is not located on a site that contains landfill.
  • Plans to develop a section of Long Island City into a shiny high-rise complex called Silvercup West appear to have ground to a halt.
  • The Prospect Park Zoo has a new resident--a baby kangaroo that's started to make tentative forays out of its mother's pouch; (with very cute video).
  • Slice notes some controversy over Di Fara's pizza slices rising in price from $3 to $4 a slice, while the actual slices are only 65-75% of a standard piece.
  • The Sign Man of Shea Stadium, who was a fixture at Mets game between 1964 and 1981 best known for his large block-lettered messages to players, died Thursday at the age of 83.
  • The Brooklyn Library's searchable database of thousands of photographs from Kings County's past.
  • Get ready for tomorrow's Lunar New Year Parade in Chinatown; it starts at Mott and Hester Streets at 1PM. Better Chinatown recommends viewing it from Allen Street between Canal and Grand Streets.

Another great Extra pic, Dave! Keep up the great work! Thanks!

Seriously? $4? Damn.

no kidding, I can't wait till the surprise GWII has in for us this Nov. Please be the end of the World.

Screw that, let's go to 2 Brothers on St. Marks for $1 slices.

$4?!? I thought it was a rip off when it was $2.75 a slice!
