Yesterday, the police arrested a Brooklyn man who posed as a livery cab driver for two rapes in the past year, including one that occurred last Wednesday. Ryan Frison, described as 41 years old and 400 pounds, faces rape, robbery and unlawful imprisonment charges.
Last week, a Long Island University student called Frison's "unlicensed" livery cab business and asked for a ride from Brooklyn to Baltimore. When he arrived with a friend, he picked her up and, per the Post, "allegedly drove her to an alley and forced her to strip." The friend, Harry Johnson, took ID from her purse before getting dropped off. Then Frison took her to his girlfriend's apartment where he threated her with a knife, raped her, and held her there for hours. Then he made her withdraw money from her ATM before dropping her off at LIU (the Daily News reports she begged him to leave her there).
According to the NY Times, the police had just matched DNA from a June rape to Frison (because of prior weapons arrests) last month, and when the victim in last week's attack came forward, they realized the description of the assailant matched Frison.

Not to be THAT guy, but why would the victim in the first case want to take a livery car to Baltimore and pay $150? the greyhound is 40 bucks round trip! Sounds shady from the get-go!
That said, I'm glad this asshole has been caught, but I'm sorry that these girls had to endure all of this.

Anyway, I've always regarded those black livery cabs as the death cabs to hell. Why on earth would any woman get into a black car with black windows, no distinguishing marks, no way to tell if it's licensed or not -- and even when they are licensed, they hardly ever give you a receipt. Not for me, thanks! I only go yellow! At least anyone seeing me get into it might remember it, or it's label.
That said, it's not the girl's fault. What do you mean it's shady? Like you mean the fact that it would have cost a lot and not been very economical means she was somehow doing something wrong ? You're making no sense at all.
I don't want to upset the people that this happened to, because it's fucking horrible, but I am baffled as to how a 400 pound dude can actually pull this off. It's obviously possible. But how?!

A 400 pound guy versus a 100+ pound woman is not a fair fight. She could run away from him, but not if he has already pinned her to the ground.

There are some good livery cab services, particularly Eastern in Brooklyn. They are always on time and offer inexpensive fares as compared to yellow cabs.
Although, I doubt they go all the way to Baltimore! What a weird request. Isn't that like a four hour drive??? Why would she think that a car service would go out of NYC? And how did she get the guy's number? It's such a weird story.
