Is New York Ready for Another Cloverfield?
If you haven't tired of Cloverfield yet, chances are you will by the time the sequel hits the big screen. That's right, the monster smash will be followed up, and it may be soon. Variety reports that Matt Reeves is already in talks with Paramount to direct, and it may even be his next project. When we interviewed him earlier this year, he said his next project would be The Invisible Woman, but now that may get pushed back for this sequel.
Along with Reeves, this would be J.J. Abrams first sequel (as a producer), and we're betting the duo won't follow convention. The big questions are: will New York be involved? Will it be a prequel? Will the monster move to Park Slope and procreate?
The original was made with a $25 million budget (and a cast of unknowns) and it racked up $46 million opening weekend, so it's no wonder they want to give it another go.

Such creativity...
It should move to Park Slope and whip out a boob at Two Boots, then get beat down by the stroller mafia.
Ugh - and I actually liked that movie because it was original. A sequel is the absolute wrong thing for this movie, but money talks. The Blair Witch Project had a terrible sequel diminish its reputation too...
Will the monster hold the camera this time?
The monster moves to Park Slope and attacks Union Hall for not letting its' monster sized stroller in the bar.
Ha, nice one emily.
z z z z Z Z Z
Hope it brings it's monster children to the bar(s).
Sweet! I hope it heads north to Boston and stomps through a Sox game!
oh good, now we can have a post a day about the sequel, because i'm sure gothamist is going to be paid to promote this one as well.
Don't these people remember how great Blair Witch 2 did at the Box office?
If they're following the Godzilla lead, they'll need a giant bug to fight the monster. I'm sure we can rustle up some sizable roaches for the auditions.
JJ Abrams... the new M. Night Shamalamadingdong. Everyone in the movie that I attended shouted an exasperated WTF at the end. Although there were plenty of good elements about the movie, the problem with it was that it was all masturbation and no orgasm.
I think they actually said in recent interviews that a sequel would depict the same attack as the first, but from a different perspective.
I'd love to see another take on the events of the first movie.
Not sure why everyone hated the ending. I thought it was great. Closure in movies is overrated :).
