Commish Says Mary-Kate Olsen Not Wanted in Heath Ledger Death Questioning

2008_01_heathsag.jpgAfter intense speculation about why the masseuse who discovered Heath Ledger's body last Tuesday called actress Mary-Kate Olsen multiple times, Police Commissioner Ray Kelly spoke to reporters yesterday to clear the air. Kelly said, "We believe that of the three phone calls by the masseuse to Mary-Kate Olsen, only one got through. That call was 99 seconds long."

Commissioner Kelly further emphasized, "There is absolutely no indication that investigators were going to speak to Mary-Kate Olsen. They determined that they had all the information needed, by the witnesses who were on the scene." Olsen had been in Los Angeles at the time, and after a call, sent body guards to Ledger's Soho apartment.

The Post, which had claimed police wanted to question the actress and then (after the NYPD denied wanting to speak with Olsen) used its Saturday cover to wonder about Olsen's involvement, says that 10 minutes elapsed between the call that did make it to Olsen and the call masseuse Diana Lee Wolozin eventually made to 911. (Then the Post adds that EMTs believe Ledger was likely dead before being found.)

Over the weekend, TMZ reported (per "sources") that Ledger's death could have been from natural causes, because toxicity levels appear to be low. Yesterday, at the Screen Actors Guild Awards, Daniel Day-Lewis, who won an "Actor" for his role in There Will Be Blood, dedicated his award to Ledger, describing Ledger's acting as perfect (video). Some anti-gay protesters were picketing outside the event as well.

Gosh, I wonder how many insane situations have never been revealed because celebrities have their own army of life savers. If the body guards had gotten to him, and revived him, would we have ever heard about it?

why should she be "wanted"? what would her crime be? no calling 9.11? in a panic, you try to figure out how to call NYC 911 from LA...

Leave her alone already! She has a enough to deal with.

If the body guards had in fact revived Ledger, Mary-Kate would be a hero for her "quick thinking".

Being a closet voyeur, I really want to know what happened. I also want to know what that Jack Nicholson quote meant.

Yeah, sue me..I want to hear freaky drugs and sex stories about celebs.

There's one theory that was floated before all the facts out that MK Olsen's bodyguards went to Ledger's apt to "clean" it of any illegal substances. Obviously it isn't the case, since they go there after the police did.

Any theory involving the Olsens and illegal substances probably isn't too far from the truth.

alright, so she's not being questioned.. can we move on now?

good thing those protesters were there protecting my heterosexual lifestyle. the only thing that i feel more threatened by than a gay is a dead actor who portrayed a gay in a film...

Why are the NYPD and NYPost bothering our rich and affluent? The NY Post should pick on a billionaire heiress their own size. Don't they know that celebrities should be celebrated?

This shyt is so stupid. You People are worse than a daytime soap opera. Drama Drama Drama. You can go back to your lives now. People die thats all you need to know.

We get it, people die. But not everyone affects others lives in quite the way that Heath Ledger obviously did in such a short time. Certainly his humanity, diverse talents, and smile will be missed by many around the world.
