Last Night's Action: Not Happy With a Point

Bruins 4, Rangers 3 (SO): Sometimes teams are happy with a single point, but the Rangers won't be in this one. They blew a lead in the third period -- after rallying from a 2-1 deficit -- and then saw things go against them in the shootout. A sluggish January for continues for New York. Scott Gomez had two assists and a goal, but it didn't help the Rangers avoid dropping to 2-4-1 in the month.

Flyers 5, Islanders 3: The Rangers weren't the only team to blow a lead Saturday. Rick DiPietro got caught behind the net to allow the Flyers' game-tying goal in the third period, and Philadelphia added two more to take down the Isles. New York will host Carolina on Monday.

Knicks 88, Heat 84: One of these days, Jamal Crawford's chucking is going to fail the Knicks, but that day is not today. He had 22 as the Knicks won for the fourth time (!) in five games. Of course, the Heat -- which blew a 10-point second point lead -- has lost 13th straight, but don't rain on the Knicks parade. A nice reality check should be waiting at Madison Square Garden on Monday, when the Knicks host the Celtics in their annual Martin Luther King Day matinee.

Clippers 120, Nets 107 (OT): That five-game winning streak seems like ages ago. Too bad the NBA doesn't give out half a win for reaching overtime. Offense wasn't the problem for the Nets. As Josh Boone -- he of 17 points, 16 rebounds and 3-of-4 free throw shooting -- said, the Clippers just played better defense in the bonus session.
