Will The Giants Make It To Arizona?

There is a lot riding on the NFC Championship Sunday. Yes, a trip to the Super Bowl may be the ultimate prize, but how about a whole lot of food or a place in a wedding party? And, look at the lengths that some “fans’ will go for victory, is it ethical to deprive someone of the ability to watch Seinfeld? None of that will matter on Sunday when the Giants take the field in frigid Green Bay. Brett Favre and the Packers are used to these types of conditions and as they showed last week, bad weather will not slow them down.

And that’s the biggest problem facing the Giants. Eli has been great the past three weeks, but so have the conditions he has played in. He has never shown much when the weather is adverse and expecting him to do so Sunday is unrealistic. That means New York will minimize the passing game and emphasize the run. Brandon Jacobs and Ahmad Bradshaw will have to keep the chains moving for the offense to be successful.

On defense the Giants are going to try and patch together a secondary. Sam Madison and Aaron Ross have been practicing on a limited basis this week, while Kevin Dockery has not at all. Expect Corey Webster and R.W. McQuarters to see a lot of time and that will put the pressure on the front seven to get to Brett Farve.

All in all it will take a prefect day for the Giants to pull off the upset. They should keep it close, but in the end it will be too much of Favre and they will fall just short.

Answer: No, no they won't. After that New York will stop caring about football once again.

Of course it's important to note that matty is a Bears fan, so of course he's bitter. After all, the only attention his team got this year was for kick returns.

Anyway, Eli hasn't been at all good in bad weather, but I'm not sure if it will actually be "bad" this Sunday. Yes, it will be very cold, but the forecast is clear with only light wind. My feeling has been that it is wind that affects Eli much more than temp.

@ Matty:

Ditka, or God?

Trick question--Ditka is God.

You'd be bitter too if you looked like that. And lived in Chicago with an NYC obsession.

I personally don't expect the Giants to win Sunday night, but it's definitely possible. The odds are stacked against them. The weather may affect Eli, a southern boy who played college ball at Ole Miss. And it will hurt if Aaron Ross doesn't play and they have to rely too much on Geoff Pope, a rookie who never played a down until last week in Dallass. And what do they have left in the tank after consecutive all-out emotional games against New England, Tampa and Dallass?

On the other hand, when you have that defensive front you can win any game. The league's best pass rush will harrass Favre, and Grant will be stifled. Toomer is red hot and the loss of Shockey doesn't seem to be an issue. The Jacobs/Bradshaw two-headed rushing monster will be primed for action.

If I had to bet the ranch I would take the Giants to cover but not win. But if they once again don't turn the ball over and limit penalties they could easily be the biggest Super Bowl underdogs ever against the 18-0 Patriots. We'll see. I felt this same way in January 1991 before the championship game in San Fran and that worked out well, so who knows?????????

Mini Ditka: 247 Giants: 3

A grizzy bear: 987

A Giant: 896

A closie, but the Bear just wants it more.

It's closie, but the Bear just wants it more.

I remember that SNL skit. I also remember the Giants going out the next day and beating the Bears 31-3.

Hey no arguments here, just saying we all knew it was a trick question.

AAAGH

ACK

OHHHH

I'm okay--just had another heart attack.
