Pencil This In

200801greenwood.jpgMUSIC: When we talked to Jonny Greenwood (pictured) back in October, Radiohead's In Rainbows wasn't the only focus. His composition titled Popcorn Superhet Receiver will be performed tonight by The Wordless Music Orchestra with Brad Lubman as conductor. When we asked Greenwood if he would be in attendance, he said "I’d love to but I can’t really justify the flight just to come to that. I’d feel a bit weird about it. If I was in America already for touring or something I’d love to go but I can’t really justify it. It’s a shame." Since you won't be using as many carbon emissions to get there, we suggest you go.

7pm // The Church of St. Paul the Apostle [Columbus Ave & W 60th St] // Tickets

READING: Rob Sheffield, of Rolling Stone magazine and also author of Love is a Mix Tape (aww) will sit down with editor Carrie Thornton tonight for McNally Robinson's author/editor series. He'll discuss "the process of creating this uniquely musical memoir and the cathartic effects of pop music and literature."

EVENT: The multi-talents at Julliard present A Modern Person's Guide to Hooking up and Breaking Up. The event is part of the New York Festival of Song, and the songs will range from Springsteen to Bernstein...anything that covers "mating, dating, betrayal, sexual urges of many stripes, and true love."

8pm // The Juilliard School, Peter Jay Sharp Theater [Broadway and 65th St] // Free

THEATER: Visionary spoken word and hip hop artist Rha Goddess performs her solo multimedia show LOW tonight at The Public Theater. Known for her musical collaborations with artists like Chuck D and Zulu Nation, Rha’s theatrical work resonates with her powerful mastery of storytelling, rhythm and language. “LOW explores the mythology, stigma, fear and confusion surrounding mental illness. Incorporating a fusion of poetry, music and prose, Rha Goddess gives a riveting portrayal of one woman’s struggle with mental illness that is at once furious, funny, dark and hopeful.” Presented as part of Under the Radar. – John Del Signore
