Snow Job: No Storm in These Parts

2008_01_snowwhere.jpgAfter much forecasting hype, New York City only saw rain - not even the low estimate of a few inches of snow meteorologists had predicted throughout Saturday night and yesterday. Teases!

There was rain, and then apparently it turned into "light snow" around 1:30AM, but it only stuck the ground north of the city (Hartford, CT). Still, one meteorologist told the Daily News, "It's a very tricky forecast. We are seeing some changeover from rain to snow, but it's taking a bit longer."

As much as we wish there was snow, those suburban school kids hoping for a snow day are probably more disappointed. And there are still concerns about icing, but today looks to be at least a couple degrees above freezing.

Some schools in the northern and western surburbs closed today.

Well the supermarkets made a killing from all of the whacked out panicked nuts who flock to them as if it's the end of the world before any predicted storm.

  • WOW!

    That was some nor'easter.

    There's 0–8 inches out there.

I knew it would be a washout. We never get heavy snow during the week, but I do feel your pain Ph.

For all the sophisticated radar, super computer generated predictions, and general gadgetry, these weather dudes amount to nothing more than ol' gramps in a rocking chair on the porch gumming on about how his bones feel funny which definitely means snow.

"...and the secret ingredient is...LOVE???! Alright, who's been screwing with this thing?"

I wish I could have a job where I could be wrong all the time and affect people's lives as much as these people do.

Oh well. Glad there was no snow.
