Cloverfield Monster: Revealed?

200801libertycloverfield_poster.jpgThe mystery surrounding the new J.J. Abrams movie, which tore up the LES last year, will soon be in the past as it finally hits the big screen this week. Cloverfield (long thought to be just a code name for the movie) will be unleashed this Friday, and is getting some great reviews. But what everyone wants to know is: what does the monster that's responsible for decapitating Lady Liberty look like? One description from that review: "He's a fiend that a heroin addict might see in his sleep during his first night in rehab."

We saw one rendering in the past, and now some new images have come out. These are by people who have seen the movie already, so are likely to be pretty accurate. We're hoping this monster isn't lurking in the depths of the East River waiting to plunge!

Check out some of the images, which are after the jump just in case you want to be surprised when you see it on celluloid.

Why do I need to watch a monster destroy NYC? I watch developers do it every day.

OH HEY!!! SPOILER WARNING or something. That's not cool. How about putting the images on a separate page allowing those that want to see it to click while others who are waiting for the movie can wait.

I think this is one of those twist ending movies where it turns out mankind is the real monster.

Looks like an ex-girlfriend of mine.

Looks just like the monster from The Host.

cool, a monster that tears up nyc. how original.

hey Groovehouse, the "Check out some of the images, which are after the jump just in case you want to be surprised when you see it on celluloid." wasn't good enough for you?

Yawn.

More fake sci fi monster crap. Godzilla was a response to Hiroshima. Are we supposed to thank hollywood for giving us a chance to have a cathartic moment about the fact that a handfull of assholes are destroying the world? They're not powerful monsters, they're just assholes. Maybe the "monster" should look like a gigantic asshole!

It's got cheek nuts.

i thought it was going to be the monster from Lost. Is that not happening anymore? I was hoping for that.

Ryan P is right!
I do like my giant monsters destroying things movies. Big Godzilla fan... my jury is out until I see the movie.

They should have named this movie - "Hipsters Escape from New York".

Hey Ralph, when you click on the link from Twitter feed, it takes you straight to the full article. I didn't have the option of clicking after the jump. =(

So... The Tarrasque Takes Manhattan?

It kinda looks like a combination of a rat and a cockroach. Appropos for NYC, methinks.
