Is the End of Isiah Thomas Era Near?

2006_03_sdailynewscover.jpgCould Jim Dolan finally deliver on the wishes of Knicks fans? Friends of Dolan told the Daily News that he finally knows that he there needs to be a coaching change. About damn time that somebody in the Knicks organization realized that, no? While the News' source didn't say when the change was coming, Dolan supposedly wants to make the coaching change before the end of the season. It's unclear whether Thomas would also be fired as the president of basketball operations.

The source also told the Daily News that former Knicks and current GMs are "coming out of the woodwork to try and get Dolan's attention" and that "the same is true of guys who are trying to get the coaching job." Mentioned as possible candidates by the News for the GM job are Jerry West and Jerry Colangelo. One has to wonder though if West or Colangelo would ever want to join an organization as dysfunctional as the Knicks. Though, think of all the praise they would get if they could turn around such a dismal basketball team. And you know that your boss would have a high tolerance for failure. After all, Dolan has suck around with Isiah Thomas for this long and is stupid enough to give extensions despite poor performance.
