Kitty Cat's Head + Bottle = Oh No!

2007_01_catinjar.jpg

Thank goodness WCBS 880 updated its story about a stray cat who was seen in NJ with a bottle stuck on its head. Raritan Township Animal Control and ASPCA helped save the cat!

The cat had been without water or food for at least 10 days, because it was first seen with the bottle on its head on New Year's Eve. The cat was "near death" when it was rescued; the rescue took so long because it kept running away in fear. Now doctors expect it to make a speedy recovery and the Hunterdon ASPCA will be handling adoption inquiries (908-996-2525; ask for Eva).

And the cat's head was freed from the bottle with some Crisco.

Why did it take ten days, and a nearly starved cat, to get him free? How did he get his head stuck?
Sounds suspicious to me.

famdoc - I added in the part about the cat being scared, so people were unable to catch him for 10 days.

And who knows how he got it stuck? Cats get stuck a lot - remember the cat that got stuck in the wall in the West Village?

"Head stuck in bottle" is why I don't get drunk anymore.

i once removed a yogurt conatiner from an animal in the middle east... looked a lot like a opossum

how did it get air for 10 days?

Cats get their heads stuck in everything if there's something they really want to get to.

There had to have been a hole in the jar, it looks like a plastic mayonnaise jar. The lucky kitty will be adopted soon, most cats with back stories get adopted quickly.

Isn't it "ohhh noes?!?"

Is this so hard to understand? It was a street kitteh, trying to get food out of the jar, and got its head stuck. There was probably enough space to get air, but not enough for it to pull its own head out. It ran away from people, as street cats are want to do, so it was difficult to grab and rescue it.

That Bonsai kitten thing always disturbs me and I can never tell if it's real or not. I hope it's not. Poor kitties.

I Can Has Crisco?

I Can Has Crisco?

I knew buying that Berlitz 'Lol Cat Made Easy' would come in handy.

Once I came back to my apartment and my dog had her head stuck in a paper bag from Mamoun's because there was a little falafel detrious in the bottom she couldn't resist trying to get.

Poor Baby! Hang in there my feline sister.
Yes, I'm also aware that if the cat can't escape the bottle it's likely not reading this blog...

Poor Kitty.

Elderta:
I've seen that Bonsai kitten website a few years ago and i remember attempting to report it to the ASPCA, i was relieved to find a link on the ASPCA website stating that it was a Hoax.

Check out the history on wikipedia.

Thanks, Loof!
Though of course, I'm sure some numnut has tried it!
