Dolans Compared to Corleones. Puzo Rolls in Grave.

2008_01_dolancorleone.jpg

Ooof. Talk about insulting. In today's Times, Clyde Haberman goes so far as to compare the Dolan clan to the Mario Puzo's Corleone family from his Godfather series of books. That comparison to the Dolans is clearly a slap in the face to the Corleones. Haberman says that any "enormously rich and influential business family would do as a replacement" and casts Jim Dolan, Chairman of Madison Square Garden, as "the hapless Fredo Corleone." If Jim is Fredo, where is Michael - and the kiss of death? There's gotta be some other unscrupulous families that to which the Dolans can compare (Spears family, anyone?).

The comparison of the two families comes while Haberman discusses the City Council's attempt to change The Garden's tax exempt status. At yesterday's hearing, Garden officials were so worried about their tax status that they didn't even bother sending any of its executives!

Instead, they relied on a Chicago consultant to ask for a delay in any attempt to change the arena's tax status until negotiations were complete on a possible move into the Farley Post Office location. Perhaps they were too busy running that great basketball team. Or they just know that their good friend Sheldon Silver would never allow The Garden's tax status to be changed.

Who is Isiah in the equation?

I love Jimmy Dolan as Fredo. The fans at MSG should chant "Fredo! Fredo!" at him Daryl-style.

A friend of mine calls Eli Manning "Fredo" since he's the bumbling younger brother, but that might have to change if he can keep up his good performances.

Jen-

Hopefully, Luca Brasi

But who is Moe Greene in this sordid tale?

IN GF 1, Fredo said to brother Michael after Mikey brushed off the Las Vegas boss ... "You do not come to Las Vegas and talk to a man like Moe Greene like THAT!" ...
Michael says to Fredo:
"Fredo -- you're my older brother, and I love you. But don't ever take sides with anyone
against the Family again. Ever."

Later in the movie Greene, of course, was shot in the eye while on a masseur's table.
And in GF2 we all know what happened to Fredo.

FYI, Mike Lupica at the Daily News has been calling Jimmy Dolan Fredo for years.

Isiah in this scenario is Capt. McCluskey--a well-paid adjutant of the Dolan/Corleone family who thinks he can insulate terrible decision makers from reality because of his standing in the community (NBA all-star/cop).

Too many mistakes, however, leaves no one untouchable. Check the backs of toilet tanks gentleman, b/c I imagine your days are numbered.

Nah. The Dolans are much more like the Tataglias.

"Tataglia's a pimp. He couldn't have done this himself."

But it was not until this very day that we realized, it was Isaiah all along.

How about Abe Vigoda?
