Comment of the Day: What's the Deal With Lawsuits?

2008_01_coffetablebook.jpgIs it something or nothing that an author's cookbook about hiding pureeed vegetables in children's food is similar to a later-published cookbook about hiding pureeed vegetables in children's food? Well, if the later cookbook's author is Jessica Seinfeld and Jerry Seinfeld refers to the other author as a "wacko" and "nut job," it means a lawsuit is in the works!

Our readers debated the merits of the lawsuit (plagiarism claims are unclear, but defamation seems a sure thing). And there was a brief flashback, courtesy commenter Matty, to a time when there was something about nothing:

If only she invented a coffee table book that is not only about coffee tables it turns into a coffee table if you don't have your own coffee table!
Ah, yes, the genius of Cosmo Kramer - who once claimed claimed Calvin Klein stole his idea for The Beach.

Great insight. Working for a social media agency I've found this to be very helpful, as there are always improvements emerging to optimize.

What's ironic is that Taschen actually published a book, SUMO (Helmut Newton's photography, signed in a an edition of 10,000) that comes with a coffee table designed by Philipe Starck. Life imitating art?

Gothamist is becoming more like a 7th grade student blog every passing day. Why rehash material from other blogs when you can do it from your own? And let's award "commendations" for the best comment?
