Pencil This In

200801samberg.jpgCOMEDY: In November, shortly after the WGA strike sent SNL to reruns, the cast took the UCB Theater stage for an off-air show. If you missed that one, there's a chance to catch some of the cast doing stand-up at Comix tonight. The site says "sold out" but the people at the venue say they just added more tickets! So give a call and enjoy "An Evening with the Writers and Performers from Saturday Night Live." The money raised will go toward the Writers Guild of America. And yes, Andy Samberg (pictured with cat) will be there. Andy Samberg, originally scheduled to be there, has dropped out of the show.

8pm // Comix [353 W 14th St] // $12, call 212.524.2500

EVENT: Authors Dave Eggers and Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie join Norman Rush on stage tonight for what's sure to be a politically driven discussion. Before chatting it up, the authors will read from their novels. More details here.

8pm // 92nd St Y [1395 Lexington Ave] // $10-18

THEATER: The long-running, always-surprising Little Theater is happening tonight at Dixon Place. Curated by Mike Taylor and playwright Jeffrey M. Jones – who has some insightful words on No Dice on his blog – the monthly series is beloved by downtown theater denizens for its eclectic mix of performance art, play excerpts and general experimental mayhem. There’s always a lot of laughs, too. Tonight’s Little Theater features a collaboration between playwright Ken Urban and José Zayas, with other performances by Sonya Sobieski, Lumberob, Scott Lindenbaum and Brendan deVallance. – John Del Signore

8pm // Dixon Place [258 Bowery, 2nd Floor] // Tickets cost $12.

TRIVIA: We've become sort of addicted to trivia over the past year, particularly rock n' roll trivia. We never win, we rarely remember the obscure facts we hear and we don't know nearly as much as we should. Tonight marks the return of SmartAss Rock Trivia at Pianos. Learn more about your host, here, and study up for a night of rock.

8pm // Pianos [158 Ludlow St] // Free

MUSIC: The last time we pointed you towards a Spanish Prisoners show we didn't include an mp3 (something the band promptly pointed out!). So here's our chance, they are playing again tonight at Mercury Lounge with Ravens & Chimes and The Art of Shooting.

Listen: Where God Does His Laundry.mp3 - Spanish Prisoners

8pm // Mercury Lounge [217 E Houston St] // $8

Comix said they don't have any more tickets.

If you're going to steal photography from all over the web and make money placing it on pages riddled with advertising, don't you think you should at least credit the photographer, and maybe NOT crop his photograph without his permission?

Where is that image from? Andy Sandburg is hilarity wrapped in a coating of awesome!

Actually it IS sold out and Andy is no longer on the show.

Standing room tickets will be sold where you can watch on the flat screen TVs in the bar.

Comix has assembled a line-up of writers and players of Saturday Night Live who will put down.

The lineup* includes:

Jason Sudeikis hosting
-- Bryan Tucker
-- Colin Jost
-- Leo Allen
-- Darrell Hammond
-- Surprise Guest
and digital shorts by Akiva Schaffer and others.

*Lineup subject to change.

Also, they're doing stand up not an off-air show of SNL.
