Comment of the Day: Bloomberg Takes the Cake in Oklahoma

butler.jpgMayor Bloomberg's trip to the University of Oklahoma to caucus with a bipartisan group of current and former politicians and grouse about Washington gridlock only fueled the fires of speculation that he is preparing a Presidential run. People are already strategizing about who his ideal running mate would be. Bloomberg is sticking to his (anti-)guns, however, and still claiming that he is not a candidate. But his pollster told the LA Times that our Mayor is seriously considering a run and will make a decision in the next two months.

The real purpose of the conference was supposed to build support for bipartisan cooperation. As former Senator David Boren put it: "We come together to resurrect that kind of bipartisan statesmanship that united us as Americans to win the Cold War."

In our post about the trip to the Sooner State, we featured a picture of Master of the Universe Bloomberg acting the good guest by personally bringing his hosts three cheesecakes from Junior's. This impressed commenter emilydickinson:

"I like how Mayor Mike rolls with his own cheese cake in hand. You'd think he would have a manservant or a cheesecake holder for that. I'd vote for Mayor Mike in a heartbeat."

If cheesecake from Junior's can buy a vote, what can a steak from Peter Lugers get me?

If I didn't know better I would say that this article is an endorsement for Mayor Bloomberg?

please somebody stop this moron from ruining what may actually be a clear-cut race with important and decisive implications for both the history and future of America. Please. PLEASE DON'T RUN

To chuzzlewit: Good for you, trying to stifle democracy and protect the public from ideas outside of the normal Republocrat sphere!

Also, Mayor Bloomberg, a man who made a personal fortune with incredibly innovative ideas and has proven a capable manager of the largest city in the country is a "moron?" Please...

He is running to try to force the Democrats further to the right, if that remains possible after the last sixteen years.

I told everyone what a loathsome, awful little man he was when he was first running. No one believed me then. You're forgiven, this time.

What ever happened to voting for a decent candidate, not the lesser of two evils, or the devil you know. Everyone is so concerned with getting the Republicans out of office (believe me I can't stand them either...) that they are willing accept mediocre politicians who are only different on the surface. Doesn't anyone think it might be time vote for someon out of this tiny little universe of professional politicians, who every word scripted for them and change their beliefs daily depending on the polls?

what would felix unger say about him?
he's a little little man...

No need to worry here. He's got about the same chances to be elected as another little man from NY. Another thing, our country has smartened up the last seven years and the tide is indeed turning against the "establishment."
