After NYPD Cop Punch, Philly Anchor is Fired

Let this be a lesson to KYW-TV employees: If you allegedly punch a police officer and call her a dyke, you're out of a job! Well, actually, Philadelphia reporter Alycia Lane also embarrassed herself when she sent bikini photographs to a married reporter's joint email account with his wife, so maybe the math is bikini-photo scandal + cop punching = firing.

FishbowlNY reports that the Philadelphia CBS affiliate now finds, after "assessing the overall impact of a series of incidents resulting from judgments she has made...it would be impossible for Alycia to continue to report the news as she, herself, has become the focus of so many news stories." But KYW-TV adds, "We wish to make clear that we are not prejudging the outcome of the criminal case against Alycia that is pending in New York. We understand that Alycia expects to be fully vindicated in that proceeding."

Lane, who is accused of punching a police officer at West 17th Street and 9th Avenue and saying, "I don't give a fuck who you are I am a reporter you fucking dyke!", is getting ready to sue the station. Her lawyer released a statement saying the firing is "unfair," "unusual," and "unwarranted."

Fast forward a month from now to her Playboy spread, and or sex tape "leaked" on the internet.

Lazy grammar, puncuation, and spelling are the wave of the future. Although this kind of thing should kill credibility, it doesn't. The same thing happens every day in the Metro. The editors should feel like complete morons. Saying "I don't have time" or "there's a deadline" are just excuses for "I'm lazy" and "I don't know what I'm doing".

"Alycia Lane was removed from a job that sources said paid nearly $800,000 a year."

Sucks that for $800k/year she couldn't find time to take some anger management classes. The drunk guy mentioned in the article is a Sirius VP and a Howard Stern butt buddy. I guess everyone's an important hot-shot hot-head these days.

The first thing she comes up with when she disagrees with a cop is to call her a f--kin' d--e.

Crude age we're living in now and it's only getting cruder.

This story is useless without pictures. Show us the bikini pics so we can judge for ourselves.

hey, tartugas, when you post long ass shit like that about minute details (yes, minute) you undermine the credibility of YOUR FACE.

"I don't give a fuck who you are I am a reporter you fucking dyke!"

    Pride goes before a fall...

  • *It really undermines your credibility as a source for accurate reporting.*

    No it doesn't.

She might not be a good journalist, but I'll bet she at least knows how to copy edit a story, unlike you guys.

ummm how about using the past tense there kids?

Wow... It amazes me how often you guys allow such glaring errors onto the site. It really undermines your credibility as a source for accurate reporting. It's not that hard to copy edit an article for publication.
