Noteworthy Television This Week: Call the Fashion Police it's the Cashmere Mafia

cashmeremafia2.jpgDarren Starr’s Sex in the City like Cashmere Mafia was set to debut at the end of November, but was put off due to the writers' strike. So don’t get too attached to this series, since there appears to be only seven episodes produced of the 13 ordered.

Still it beats NBC’s similar Lipstick Jungle to air, which seems not to have a launch date announced yet. On its surface the show looks like a bit more multicultural version of the hit HBO show, but we can only wonder if the broadcast network content restrictions will handicap the show.

The normal time slot for the show will be Tuesdays at 10 (WABC 7) but the network is rolling out the pilot tonight at 10, then repeating Tuesday at 10 p.m Then the second episode will follow in the normal time slot on Wednesday at 10.

Also of note this week:
One Tree Hill (Tuesday, 8:00 p.m., WPIX 11) In an interesting move this teen soap fasts forwards few years which sort of makes sense given the age of the show’s actors.

Frontline: The Medicated Child (Tuesday, 9:00 p.m., WNET 13) A look at the impact of giving kids prescription drugs to control behavior.

Law & Order: Criminal Intent (Wednesday, 9:00 p.m., WNBC 4) If you forgot to watch this show in its first run on USA, now is the chance to watch. It is followed by a new episode of the original Law & Order at 10 p.m.

i dunno, kinda think this is the kind of show that justifies these useless women's lives in nyc. yeah, i know that you women moved to new york to fulfill your ugly betty lifestyles, and i bet you did, but, well, at what point is this society going to understand that engineers and scientists makes this country what it is today? I really don't care about what you read in vogue or what you are doing in midtown, the fact is, women's roles in new york society is sadly being relegated to the gossip and fashion industries. Go out and be architects ladies!

not trying to be mean, but this country needs to get its priorities straight about what constitutes a good career. Televsion, it seems, is not helping.

oh and by "Architects" i would aslo accept taylors, bakers, doctors, lawyers, chefs and scientists. I hope women still want these jobs cause television is making them seem like crap careers.

i think members of any other mafia (italian, chinese, russian, etc) should start a petition caling for a change in cashmere mafia's name. they're ruining their good name!

More mindless garbage for potential transplants to watch and glamorize this city. Then they arrive to live in tiny railroad apartments with four other transplants for ridiculous amounts of wasted rent. Roaches, vermin, noisy neighbors above and below, endless trips to the shrink and alcoholism. Do us a favor stay home, TV isn't real.

Darren Starr needs to get some new ideas. Zzzzzzz....

sorry.. it's "sex and the city" not "sex in the city". i'm looking forward to a new law & order this week!

nyc needs these vapid silly little things,

the availability of cheap east village booze & the dread of going back home to the $3450 east village studio with 3 other roomates in the roach infected 5th floor walkup makes these chicks easy pickings to take back to the soho loft.
