Clemens Admits To Being Injected, But Only With 'Healthy Juice'

2008_01_clemens60minutes.jpgTake three weeks, hire some lawyers and private investigators and this is the best you can do? While the full details won’t be available until Sunday night on 60 Minutes, Roger Clemens has admitted to being injected by Brian McNamee, but only with Lidocaine and B-12. In other words, Clemens is using the same line of defense Barry Bonds used when he claimed it was only flaxseed oil he was taking and not steroids or HGH.

What remains to be seen is how much Mike Wallace goes after Clemens in the interview. Wallace is a well-known Yankees and Clemens fan, so that undermines his credibility in the eyes of some critics. And, there are some big questions that need to be answered like why did Clemens refuse to talk to Senator Mitchell before the report came out? It would also be very interesting to hear what Clemens think about Andy Pettitte’s admission of guilt and if he thinks that undermines his position.

Watching all of this with keen interest will be Brian McNamee’s attorney who is threatening a lawsuit against Clemens if he accuses his client of lying. Clemens is also holding a press conference Monday to answer questions directly from the media. Could an appearance in Congress follow that?

Methinks big guy doth protest too much.

Never liked the guy, even with the Yankees...

if the bat toss at Piazza wasn't roid rage I don't know what is...

Look, just cause the guy thinks the bottle/needle says it's B12, doesn't mean it has to be!

if wasn't illegal when he injected it, then the past is behind him and there's nothing anyone can do in a court of law...

Who the hell has flaxseed oil injected? Just take a damn tablespoon of it.

Sure, Roger.
We believe you. Right.
Whatever you say, Roger.

Sure, it wasn't illegal when he took it, but it shoudl have been. Baseball hid behind the players union in order to have teh inflated numbers they resulted in for players stats, in order to keep getting butts in the seats after the season ended in 1994. Everything that contributed to the growing re-popularity of the game helped, including looking the other way on getting tougher on steroids policies. Meanwhile, each other sport made small decisions to get behind new rules in the 90s, until they finally all agreed to have harsh penalties.

Considering they talked about bannign steroids for so long, and always encouraged kids to not take drugs....they make great role models!
