Stray Bullet Hits 3-Year-Old in the Bronx

2008_01_tremshot.jpgA child was hit by a bullet while in a car driven by her mother's boyfriend. Gunfire broke out at the corner of East 184th Street and Tiebout Avenue, and the car was caught in the crossfire.

According to the Daily News, a shooter, in a different car, fired 10-15 shots at a man on the corner around 5:20PM. The Dodge carrying the 3-year-old had been idling at a stop sign and the girl, sitting in the backseat, was grazed in the shoulder. Local TV news showed the car riddled with at least five bullets. The child is in stable condition at a Bronx hospital.

The gunfire also hit apartment windows, store windows, cars, and street signs. Two cars also got into an accident as they tried to get out of the way. One resident whose TV set was hit said, "I'm really afraid. I'm not going to stay here much longer because it happens all the time."
